Nature
as Healer
In Nature Informed Therapy, Nature is the co-therapist, bringing to the therapeutic process: co-regulation, wisdom, a safe space to practice attachment, awe, and a model for being.
My Specializations
Play-Based Inner Child Work
I started my career in mental health as a nationally certified recreational therapist who led groups using creative and expressive activities to help people let what they were holding in, out. Since then, I have worked extensively with children use play therapy. Combining these experiences, I am passionate about helping adults explore and nurture their inner child through play.
Individual Therapy
Meeting one-on-one to discuss your life’s journey. This can be short-term or long-term and we can focus on whatever you want to bring to the table. I have experience working with people who have Anxiety, Depression, ADHD, Autism, and PTSD. Everyone’s style with therapy is different, and I am flexible in figuring out what may work for you over time, especially with your feedback.
Therapeutic Groups and Events
Groups can be a place to learn from others in similar life paths or situations. When we are validated in our experiences, seen, and witnessed, we experience healing. Groups and events will have a topic and educational information to help supplement the work you are doing in your life to heal and grow.
Nature-Informed
I am a Certified Nature-Informed Therapist, meaning I have extensive training in using nature as my co-pilot. All experiences I offer, whether it’s therapy, play-based groups, retreats, or hikes, nature is used to facilitate the therapeutic experience.
How It Works
1.
Book a free 15 min. Consultation Call
This is a chance for you to ask questions and see if this might be right for you before you commit to a session.
2.
Virtual Assessment Sessions
We meet for one to three sessions virtually to assess your mental health and nature background (you must be in Maryland for these sessions).
3.
We Meet in Nature
Based on the assessment, we meet at a predetermined location in the Silver Spring, MD area for sessions that can involve sitting and/or walking.
4.
See the Results
Overtime, you should start to see the changes you were hoping to find. We can work together to make modifications to the treatment process to make sure it is still working for you.
About Me
Hi, I’m Heidi! I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Maryland and Certified Nature Informed Therapist who has lived on the East Coast since 2020. I have learned to love the soft stillness of the East Coast woods, as compared with the stark beauty of the Rocky Mountains I called home for most of my life. Before obtaining my Master of Social Work degree, I worked in a variety of settings as a nationally certified recreational therapist and mental health tech including: residential treatment centers, hospitals, schools, and wilderness settings. I have worked with all age groups—from 4 to 74—and am currently open to working with pre-teens, teens, and adults.

Have you ever seen something a thousand times without ever actually seeing it? This morning I was walking to the trail by my house when I saw a tree, truly saw it, for what felt like the first time even though I had seen it so many times before. The trunk was twisted,...
